Futurekids Awards More Than $60,000 to Schools of Distinction Award Winners
Futurekids announced today that it has shipped its Classroom Current
Language Arts (CCLA) curriculum to schools that are the 2007 winners in the
Intel Schools of Distinction (SODA) Awards. The Futurekids’ CCLA award has a
retail value of $62,322.
The annual SODA national education program recognizes K-12 schools in the
United States that have demonstrated excellence in implementing innovative,
replicable programs that support positive educational outcomes in the areas
of math and science achievement based on standards set by the Partnership
for 21st Century Skills.
The Intel Foundation and sponsoring companies, including Futurekids,
distribute $1 million annually in grants and awards to winning schools.
This year’s winners include Balboa Elementary School, San Diego; Sewell
Middle School, Bremen, Ga.; Bergen Academies-Hackensack, Hackensack, N.J.;
Escalante School, Salt Lake City; Conyers Middle School, Conyers, Ga.; and
Greenhills School, Ann Arbor, Mich.
Ms. Dzana Homan, C.E.O. of Futurekids, commented on Futurekids’ involvement.
“These schools are the best of the best in integrating 21st century learning
skills. We’re happy to support them with proven curriculum that infuses
technology in the classroom.”
The Classroom Current Language Arts (CCLA) curriculum is a
technology-infused supplemental language-arts curriculum correlated to state
and national standards that allows teachers to easily integrate education
technology into their classroom.
Mr. Terry Smithson of Intel also commented on Futurekids’ involvement in the
program. “Futurekids has been a key sponsor of the Schools of Distinction
Awards since it began. It’s gratifying to see that other technology
companies value 21st century learning skills as much as we do.”
