Futurekids partners with Speak Up 2007, as North American School
Survey Non-profit Approaches One Million Surveys
Futurekids’ CEO Ms. Dzana Homan announced today that the company is a
sponsor in this year’s Speak Up 2007 North American online school survey.
Survey participation is open to every public, private, parochial and charter
school in the U.S. and Canada and continues until December 15, 2007.
This marks the fifth year of collecting and reporting authentic, unfiltered,
viewpoints about education and 21st century learning. This year, an
estimated 325,000 surveys are projected to be completed. Since 2005, 857,000
surveys have been collected, so the group will surpass the million survey
cumulative total this year.
The Speak Up program provides the only national online method for every K-12
student, teacher, parent and school leader to have a voice on key education
topics. The group will release national Speak Up findings in March 2008,
commencing with a Congressional Briefing in Washington D.C.
Ms. Homan encourages all schools to participate in the national survey, at
www.netdayspeakup.org. All U.S. schools are pre-registered, however school
officials may need to activate their school or district registration and
pick a password.
“We need all teachers, students and parents to give us their thoughts so we
can continue to move towards a true 21st century classroom environment,”
commented Ms. Homan. “It’s really important to help us have a voice for
improving education throughout North America, and this is a critical
platform to be able to do that.”
Ms. Julie Evans, CEO of Project Tomorrow.org and the leader behind the Speak
Up 2007 surveying initiative, expanded on this idea. “We have a tremendous
opportunity to improve education across the board, and this comprehensive
survey allows us to gather feedback that we present to educational leaders
at the highest levels of government and also at the school level. We’re all
committed to providing honest, accurate feedback on what we can do to
improve learning in our schools.”
Other partners in the Speak Up 2007 initiative include CDW-G, SMART
Technologies, PASCO Scientific, the William and Flora Hewitt Foundation, KI
Education, as well as the educational groups SETDA, CoSN and NSBA.
